ETUDE DE LA VULNERABILITE INTRINSEQUE A LA POLLUTION DE LA NAPPE LIBRE DES SABLES QUATERNAIRES DE THIAROYE PAR LA METHODE DRASTIC

The Thiaroye aquifer which belongs to the quaternary sands hydrogeologic system of the Dakar peninsula is located between Patte d’Oie and Kayar with an surface area of approximately 300 km2. The hydrogeologic characteristics of the aquifer were used as an input to estimate intrinsic vulnerability of the system through the DRASTIC method. The drastic indice was mapped by the use of matrix under Arc View 3.2 and allowed to delineate areas of moderate to high vulnerability with values ranging from 108 to 193. The high vulnerability zones which represent 14,5% of the aquifer surface area exhibit indices between 151 and 193, and encountered in the agglomeration zones such as Cambérène, Pikine, Thiaroye, Malika, Boune, Gouye Guéwel. In the opposite, the major part of the aquifer has been identified as moderately vulnerable with 85, 5% of the investigated surface. The use of matrix which elements represent the discretize domain allow rigorous vulnerability mapping vis à vis to pollution.
