Effets des excitons sur le rendement quantique de la cellule solaire CdS/CdTe par le modèle de la fonction diélectrique

The quantum efficiency ‘QE’ of an n-CdS/p-CdTe solar cell numerically computed is reviewed in this paper. The calculations are performed using absorption coefficient expressions derived from the complex dielectric function ? (E) measured by S. Adachi from spectroscopic ellipsometry in the photon energy range 1.1 – 5.7 eV at room temperature. The analysis of quantum efficiency is based on the electronic energy band structure of CdS and CdTe. The investigations include excitons effects on QE through transitions near the fundamental absorption edges of both CdS (E0 = 2.48 eV) and CdTe (E0 = 1.58 eV) in the ultra violet and infrared regions. The theoretical results will be compared to that from experimental spectral responses of two CdS/CdTe solar cells in order to understand their behaviour and to know the limits of the model used for the computer simulations
